Although he had spent most of his years at Hogwarts goofing off, James excelled in Transfiguration and Charms in particular.  He did well in both subjects, even before putting effort forth in his courses, and understood even the most complex spells (hence being able to transform into an Animagus and create the Marauders’ Map with his friends).  In his youth, he often tried to extend a helping hand to Lily in either subject, insisting that if she was having trouble, he was more than happy to teach her a few tricks.  His efforts were fruitless, but James Potter was nothing if not determined.

James and Sirius referred to Remus’s transformation as “his time of the month.”  If he was acting irritable towards people outside of their friend group, James would laugh and make some sort of joke along those lines, throwing his arm around his friend with the worst grin on his face.

James would always asks Remus make him Polyjuice potions in the likeness of their professors before big exams in order to sneak into their offices and swipe the answers.  Remus insisted it wouldn’t be necessary if he’d just study because then he wouldn’t need to cheat, but Sirius and Peter seemed grateful for his “act of selflessness,” and so James continued to ask Remus for potions.  In their fourth year, Severus Snape saw him once (rather, he saw a floating piece of paper leaving the Divination Professor’s office) and tried desperately to get James expelled over it.  However, no one believed him without adequate proof, and all Severus got out of it was a good hex that caused his tongue to swell for a week straight.

Biography:

Born into a high and respected Pureblood family, James never really had anything to worry about in life. He saw the strength from his father and the love and loyalty of his mother and saw that they chose the right road. There was no such thing as ‘pure’ blood or ‘dirty’ blood. All there was to judge was someone’s sense of character and James was at times quick to judge. Despite that, James made friends just as easy as he made enemies. He practically grew up with Marlene McKinnon and her brothers, playing Quidditch, seeing movies and going to muggle concerts with them as a child. Marlene was his best friend and practically like a sister to him. He would talk to her late into night about serious and ridiculous things when they would have sleep overs, which were quite often since they were neighbors. Even though they weren’t bound at the hip now as they were when they were young, they’re still very close friends and he’s protective of her just as if she were his younger sister and not his childhood best friend. When he got to Hogwarts he found his best mates; he instantly clicked with Sirius and it wasn’t long till Peter and Remus completed their little circle.

With four young boys all sorted into the same house together, same dorm together it was only a matter of time before people found out about their mischievous nature. Both James and Sirius would go on thinking up pranks and oftentimes drag Remus and Peter along for the ride, mostly the two only needed a slight nudge. To say the boys became well known rather quickly for their antics was an understatement, if it was in a good nature or bad one everyone knew James Potter and honestly, that’s how he liked it. The one thing that always bothered him, though, was the indifference of one Lily Evans. He always found the girl interesting and different though he never really voiced this since from the start she thought he was nothing but an arrogant bully. For awhile he thought it was that Snape boy that went on talking wrong about him to the girl since their mishap on the Hogwarts Expressed that made them enemies from that point on.

School has never really came off ‘easy’ to James, and he never would think to put as much effort in his work then a Ravenclaw. Though, he doesn’t totally blow off his assignments like most of his classmates think either. James Potter does what it takes to get decent grades, being an Auror was always on his list of possible careers he’d like to get into so, yes, he did try a bit. He just simply liked to have fun, though. To live in the moment and not have any worries, which, would make sense with his upbringing. He also learned to value life though, to appreciate the people who are different and make the world more diverse and a better place. As he got older he continued to stick to that belief, it’s why as he’s gotten older he’s become less of a bully and just someone who can hold a witty and fun conversation with. It’s the reason why he’s so against blood purists beliefs and is wiling to fight against them when he’s old enough to do so. James is very family oriented and considers many of his close friends like family, if any of them are threatened he will be there right beside them and fight to the end.

Possible Relationships:

  • Sirius Black, Remus Lupin, Peter Pettigrew: His best mate. There isn’t anything he wouldn’t do for either of them and considers them to be his family as well. He’s grateful for them and he feels like they feel the same for him. James also knows he wouldn’t nearly be the same person he was now if he didn’t have Sirius, Remus or Peter in his life.
  • Lily Evans: He’s had a crush on Lily Evans for the longest of times, he asked her out ones but that obviously didn’t go according to plan. He made cheeky small talk with her a few times since then but now that they’re head girl and boy he’s determine to show her there is more to him then what she may think.
  • Marlene Mckinnon: He loves Marlene as if she were his own blood. They’ve always get along so well and knows exactly what the other needs or what to say when the other is being a giant idiot. They’re real with each other and though at time they might profess to hate each other, they knew that was the farthest thing from the truth.
  • Severus Snape: Ever since meeting on the train on their first year, James and Severus clashed outrageously. From that point on it was as if it were each others mission to ruin the other, if it be for that day or every day for the rest of the year. Slowly, James is laying off, seeing as he’s no longer a child anymore but about to graduate. He also can’t help but remember the horrible trick Sirius played on him and still feels just a tad bit bad about it.
